Yaoure style mask - Lot 95

Yaoure style mask Ivory Coast Wood Height : 44 cm This anthropo-zoomorphic mask, of great refinement, has human features delicately modeled according to the aesthetics of the Yaoure arts. It is topped by a crest representing a bird. The balance of the features is matched by the tension of the curves, whose dynamism is enhanced by the white highlights punctuating the dark, shiny patina. A serenity emerges from this face with pure and harmonious lines, reinforced by the delicate polish of the surface. The face with its jagged beard structures the whole. The slit eyes, almost closed, are underlined by heavy eyelids and a marked eyebrow arch. The strict nose, in the shape of an inverted T, ends on a tiny mouth carried forward, giving all its finesse to the face.
