Gourounsi style mask - Lot 237
Gourounsi style mask
Burkina Faso
Wood, pigments
Height : 92,5 cm
Mask composed of a face surmounted by a superstructure. The face is composed of salient elements: a marked dentition inscribed in a rhombus that forms the mouth, conical eyes with concentric circles in relief and in the center of the forehead, a zoomorphic protuberance with a long snout sharpened by multiple teeth. A set of lozenges, hollow and in relief, accentuate the polychromy based on white and black.
