Large Fang style reliquary - Lot 165
Large Fang style reliquary
Gabon
Wood
H : 42 cm
Large and long figure, with a light brown patina. On small legs, an imposing bust and belly, the umbilicus treated in relief. The musculature of the upper body all in roundness (biceps, forearms, pectorals) accentuates the gestures of the hands linked together in a solemn way. Small heart-shaped face, clever play of concave and convex shapes between the forehead and the cheeks. Pupils in balls. Delicate headdress falling to the nape of the neck.
