Earthenware jar - Lot 129
Earthenware jar
Ghana
H : 25 cm
Composition that goes beyond the classic iconographic codes: the stopper of the jar is embodied in a face with closed eyes, wearing a distinctive headdress designating a high-ranking person. On either side of the base decorated with a frieze of engravings, linear, in zig zag, two small characters with legs and arms spread out seem to intertwine this base which can also refer to the belly of the central personae.
