Yaoure style mask Ivory Coast Wood Height: 48 cm This anthropo-zoomorphic mask combines the ears of a fast-running animal (hare or antelope) with the trunk and tusks of an elephant. The oval face is encircled by a serrated collar characteristic of the Yaure. It is pierced with fixing holes around the perimeter. The slit eyes, almost closed, are framed by two temporal and frontal scarifications and underlined by heavy eyelids and a semi-circular eyebrow arch. The nose with finely hemmed nostrils ends on a small protruding mouth. The tripartite hairstyle that borders the front of the face is synonymous with power and wealth. The inside of the ears, the eyelids, and the tusks are covered with kaolin. YAOURE STYLE - MASK 48 CM
