Igbo style mask
Nigeria
Wood, pigments
Height : 28 cm
This mask with idealized feminine features presents an emaciated face painted in white. The almond-shaped eyes are surrounded by dark comma-shaped flat tints, which are answered by moon-shaped recesses on the temples. The nose is curved. The fleshy lips are open on small visible teeth. The black hair draws geometrical patterns in deeply engraved spirals.
