Luba style statuette
Democratic Republic of Congo
Wood
Janiform statuette. The female figure clutches her breasts with her hands, underlining its nourishing function and its importance in the culture. The two faces develop, under a wide and rounded forehead, almond-shaped open eyes, whose pupil is delicately highlighted by the eyelids and the arched eyebrows. The refined noses, the mouths with half-opened lips and the curvilinear pavilion of the ears punctuate the faces.
