Statuette of Dengese style - Lot 240
Statuette of Dengese style
Democratic Republic of Congo
Wood
H : 24,5 cm
The main characteristic of Dengese statuary is the absence of legs which are replaced by primitive stumps. The hands are joined on the abdomen. The coffee bean eyes are large and closed. The headdress corresponds to the one worn by the notables of the Totshis. The body is richly decorated with scarifications and bracelets.
