Ligbi style mask - Lot 115
Ligbi style mask
Ivory Coast
Wood
Height : 60 cm
A powerful symbolism is inscribed in this anthropo-zoomorphic mask. From the front part, the representation of a large fertilizing hornbill is projected in front of the face.
The aestheticism of the forms is in order, resulting in half-moon shaped eyes, and a simple incision for the mouth with pretty scarifications at the corner of the mouth, at the temples and on the forehead.
