Baule style mask - Lot 97
Baule style mask
Ivory Coast
Wood
Height : 45 cm
The fineness of the features is characteristic of the canons of beauty in Baule country. The multiple frontal and temporal scarifications, the sophistication of the hairstyle in elaborate shells, and the hemmed design of the ears bear witness to this.
The peaceful expression of the figure is reflected in the straight nose in the shape of an inverted T, the slit eyes, and the slightly half-open mouth.
