Bwa style mask - Lot 86
Bwa style mask
Burkina Faso
Wood, pigments
Height : 35 cm
The very geometric eyes are represented by concentric circles. The diamond-shaped mouth reveals two rows of threatening teeth. Of zoomorphic aspect, it represents a rooster. The mask of the rooster is particularly original with its drooping crest, which is superimposed vertically on the face and divides it into three dimensions. The decorations are geometric and participate in signifying strength, growth and fertility.
