Terracotta jar with a spherical body decorated with spikes, - Lot 52
Terracotta jar with a spherical body decorated with spikes, extended by a disproportionately long neck. The head is carried towards the sky. The expression is reinforced by the round exorbitant eyes inscribed in large orbital cavities. The pouring hole takes the form of a wide-open mouth, evoking, with the small lateral ears, the zoomorphic character of the sculpture. At the back of the figure, a similar small figure is carved in the round.
Ga'anda style - Nigeria
