A mma ji mask made of wood and polychrome pigments with geom - Lot 19
A mma ji mask made of wood and polychrome pigments with geometric shapes representing a stylized face. The balance of the composition is rendered by the triple conical projections protruding from the face, itself surmounted by a flat, curved blade carved vertically, evoking the yam knife.
These masks are worn during the okonkwo, a xylophone accompanying the dance.
